Beautiful moment:   Havana, Cuba       3/17/03        1:14pm

This is a picture of a student on my yoga retreat to Cuba back in 2003. Thanks to the American embargo on trade, many of the cars on the streets of Havana are from the pre-embargo 1950’s. It feels like you’ve entered a time warp.

We practiced yoga in a ballroom overlooking the streets of Havana, enjoyed trips to the most tropical of beaches, and traveled on excursions to visit artists existing on every street corner because in a place where one’s body cannot leave (thanks to communism), there’s nothing stopping her mind.
