Beautiful moment:    2/18/08   Washington DC   2:47pm

“Anxiety is the rust of life, destroying its brightness and weakening its power. A childlike and abiding trust in Providence is its best preventive and remedy.”  –Unknown

Last year I went to my little cousin’s 2 year old birthday. We sang Happy Birthday, blew out the candles on his cupake, and watched him dig in. This photo shows my cousin Eli about to go crazy which ends up leaving a smattering of frosting and sprinkles smushed all over his face. This is what I mean by Livin’ the Moment. To recall the carefree lifestyle of youth, try this exercise. Get a piece of cake, and eat it like it’s the last piece of cake you’ll ever have in your life. No napkin allowed. You might just recall a time when “anxiety” was an adult word, and freedom was a face full of frosting.

“Action is eloquence.”  -Shakespeare

If you’ve never tried to French Kiss, it’s where you kiss with an open mouth and swirl your tongue around in the other person’s mouth. Your style of French Kissing says much about how you make love.

If you use quick stabbing motions with your tongue, it means you are a ferocious lover. If you allow your tongue to go limp in the other person’s mouth, it means you are a lousy lover. If you drool in the other person’s mouth, it means you are a disgusting lover. If you massage the other person’s tongue with gentle lathering strokes, you are a fantastic lover.

There is much to be said about how you do anything in life. If you eat like a pig, or kiss like a hog, or drink like a hound, you are not very far removed from an animal. As Thomas Carlson said, “It is the unseen and the spiritual that determines the outward and the actual.”

Note: I eat like a pig and drink like a hound but my sister says I’m a great French Kisser.

I wish I could say that my upcoming book (due out in March 2009) is a male version of Eat, Pray, Love. But there are chapters about things such as:

-Lessons on life from Schmutize, my toy poodle (with one ball)  (see above photo)

-An attempt to boost my sex appeal by taking medical strength pheremones at a fancy Hollywood nightclub only to suffer an excruciating side effect.

-My aspirations to be a competitive mime.

So the book is different than Eat, Pray, Love. I will tell you this, however. Surely you were inspired by Eat, Pray, Love and said to yourself, “You know, one day, I’d like to take a trip like that and eat pasta to my heart’s content, drink the best wine in the world, explore my soul’s mysterious terrain, and discover a renewed sense of love in an exotic Mediterranean land.”

This August 31 to September 5, join us for Yoga + Wine in Sicily. Led by myself and champion sommelier Angela Gargano, the trip will involve lots of flowing yoga with inspiring themes, eating, wine prayer, and an optional excursion to meet real, live Italian lovers. It’s truly going to be a dream.

Remember: life is short and amazing memories are like precious works of art. Enhance your collection and take the journey!

This retreat will feature beautiful accommodations, expert tours from Angela (who is Sicilian), my morning yoga journeys through your mind and body, the island’s greatest gnocchi and fresh seafood, and last but not least, a lifetime of newfound knowledge and passion for wine.

Capped off with a tour of Sicilian winery Feudo Arancio, you will feel like you died and went to Sicily.
