When and Where: August 25th in my family’s home in Tavullia, Italy (a small, small town in the hills of the Marche region between Cattolica and Pesaro)
What about this photo makes it special? “This tart was made by my baby sister (18 years old) Stella. She made it for my going away dinner my family had for us the night before we left Italy…The figs come from our trees and they were picked by my aunt Luciana. This tart is special because it is so beautiful and it reminds me of all the love and joy that was put into the the tart and the whole evening. I am vegetarian but could not resist it’s beauty and the love it was made with-it is a perfect balance of the soft and indulgent sweetness of the figs and the melt in your mouth salty prosciutto-the crust is a wonderful brisse’ dough.”
